A mainstay on the Bethesda-Chevy Chase border, Persimmon Restaurant still delivers the goods.

Fourteen years on, Persimmon Restaurant—on the Bethesda-Chevy Chase border—still delivers on its promise of a fine dining experience. The decor is a bit tired, but the mostly older patrons seem to enjoy being treated to silver, glassware and starched white linen. The space is tight, but not uncomfortable. The wait staff is generally efficient, if not especially warm. But, be warned: This is not a kid-friendly restaurant, so don’t bring Junior along. Readers' Choice: La Ferme Restaurant

Patch readers chose La Ferme Restaurant, in Chevy Chase, as their favorite power lunch spot.

When lunching in a suit, many Patch readers head to La Ferme Restaurant, at 7101 Brookville Rd., Chevy Chase. More readers in Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac and North Potomac-Darnestown voted for La Ferme Restaurant in our recent poll of favorite local power lunch spots than for any other restaurant in the poll. La Ferme received 27 percent of the vote, while Manoli Canoli, at 8540 Connecticut Ave., Chevy Chase, came in second place, with 20 percent of the vote. Black's Bar and Kitchen, at 7750 Woodmont Ave., Bethesda, came in third place, with 16 percent of the vote. La Ferme is a fine French restaurant serving lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. Readers of Bethesda Patch, Chevy Chase Patch, North Potomac-Darnestown Patch and Potomac Patch chose Hannah's Barbershop, in Bethesda, as their favorite place to take a kid for a haircut. Nearby, readers of College Park Patch, Hyattsville Patch, Riverdale Park-University Park Patch and Greenbelt Patch voted for Today's Hair, in College Park. Where's the best place for a kid to get a haircut? Readers in the Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Potomac, North Potomac and Darnestown areas chose Hannah's Barbershop, at 8007 Norfolk Ave. in Bethesda, as the best place to take a kid to get a haircut. "We have been taking our kids to Hannah's Barbershop on Norfolk Ave in Bethesda for years. Hannah and Jennie have been great with both my daughter and son," wrote Jim Turner in a comment on Patch.
