Brittany Norwood, the woman accused of killing her co-worker Jayna Murray at the Lululemon Athletica retail shop in downtown Bethesda March 11, was indicted Thursday by a grand jury on a charge of murder, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's office reported in a press release.

County police and prosecutors have said that Norwood lied to police, saying she and Murray were attacked by two masked men at the shop. She staged the crime scene to make it appear as though an attack had taken place, prosecutors said.

County State's Attorney John McCarthy announced in the statement that he would act as the lead prosecutor on the case, co-trying with Assistant State’s Attorney Marybeth Ayres.

The case will now move from Montgomery County District Court to Montgomery County Circuit Court. A  previously scheduled May 13 court date in District Court will no longer move forward, and the future court dates will be set in Circuit Court, according to the release.

A date for a scheduling hearing in Circuit Court will likely be set within the next few days, according to Seth Zucker, a spokesman for the county State's Attorney's office. Future court dates will be set at the scheduling hearing, Zucker said.

Norwood's defense attorneys did not immediately return a call for comment.
